Mark McKenna Is A Medical Doctor Who Is Thriving As An Entrepreneur

Dr. Mark McKenna is the founder of OVME, which is a medical aesthetics company that looks to disrupt the industry with new innovations. He founded it after working in the medical aesthetic field for many years and feels like he has discovered plenty of opportunities for change in the field. Mark gets inspiration by meditating daily, and he is a believer in setting goals to strive towards. Mark feels that his active reading habit makes him a better entrepreneur, and as a health nut, he loves the fact that the amount of people who smoke in the world is on the decline.

If Dr. Mark McKenna could start all over again, he would take more time discovering his passion and slow down a bit. He feels that doing too much without having a direction is pointless, and he also believes in the idea of surrounding himself with people who he feels are smarter in order to be a better person himself. Some of the people who have influenced Mark and the way he thinks are Barack Obama, Michael Bloomberg, and Elon Musk.

Mark McKenna is a Georgia based medical doctor, originally from New Orleans, LA, who is licensed in Medicine and Surgery. He graduated from Tulane University Medical School and afterwards practiced medicine alongside his father. He went on to start up McKenna Venture Investments, which was a boutique real estate investment firm and also acquired Uptown Title, Inc. as well as Universal Mortgage Lending. In 2005, when Hurricane Katrina ravaged much of New Orleans, Mark helped to redevelop low to moderate income housing in an effort to help with the rebuilding of his city.

In 2007, Mark McKenna founded ShapeMed, which was eventually sold to Life Time Fitness Inc. After the sale, and all of the way until 2016, he stayed on with the company as its National Medical Director. Then in 2017 he decided to launch OVME, which is a tech ready, consumer, aesthetic medical business that looks to change the face of elective healthcare. Today, Mark calls Georgia his home, and loves spending time with his children and wife, Gianine McKenna.

Lacey, Larkin and Other Heroes that Fight for Our Rights

“Right” is a beautiful concept, it makes any individual feel safe and as they are being protected by organizations that are focused on avoiding any injustice from happening.

However, in practice, this is near impossible. That is why many people are exploited or mistreated and can’t seem to find a home because no matter where they go, the result is same, hatred and discrimination are always peeking around the corner.

However, many heroes are fighting everyday for these injustices to stop and it is essential to make emphasis on two people who even fought the legal system and came out victorious, helping many people in need: Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, and their Frontera Fund.

The discrimination and mistreatment of migrants is an unfortunate issue; however, sometimes terrible problems make incredible people appear and solve them.

This was the case with civil right defenders Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin who are individuals that can relate to migrants because they know how does it feel to be bullied by people who have a significant amount of power, however, they didn’t mind a single bit and kept on fighting.

They were arrested because they were brave enough to reveal that they were ordered to deliver all the information about their employees. Being arrested for this reason is a clear breach of the first amendment.

It just took a day to set both of these heroes free and immediately they took countermeasures, thanks to them the order to deliver the information was annulled, and years later they won a lawsuit that gave them a huge indemnization. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin noticed how unjust the anti-migrants can be and that’s why they decided to create the Lacey & Larkin Fund with the money they earned from the lawsuit, wishing that they can prevent the mistreatment of migrants and hopefully strive for a world that doesn’t take advantage of a person that came from thousands of miles away for an opportunity to live happily.

There a lot of groups that ensure the protection of our rights, like the Committee to Protect Journalist that proves that is not the only time where individuals have been harassed or even killed for speaking the truth, there are also humanitarian organizations that are designed to protect and help refugees like Refugees International, and the Norwegian Refugee Council. These groups work their best to protect us and ensure that justice is made, advocacy groups have the propper support that they need and that more professionals can work independantly and serve an array of different clients and social conditions.

Because of the duo, many lawyers and groups that advocate for civil and human rights now are able to defend their clients with the funding that came from the Frontera Fund. The arrest of Michael Lacey and Jim Larkey resulted in a settlement money of more than three million dollars that goes to funding these teams and institutions.

The Frontera Fund is a big sympathizer for movements that support freedom of speech and of expression, as well as migrants’ rights and initiatives that support cultural and racial diversity.

Lacey and Larkin Use Frontera Fund to Champion Human Rights

By virtue of being human, there are norms and principles that seek to control the existence of humanity. These moral norms are defined as human rights because there is a set of standards for human character that are constantly regulated by legal rights as well as international law.

Commonly, the rights are understood as fundamental for the existence of people. In the current century, human rights are significant rights that are inherently entitled to humans by virtue of being part of the society. These rights are entitled to an individual irrespective of their nation, language, culture, ethnicity as well as religion and any additional status in life.

Birth of Human Rights

In essence, human and civil rights co-exist and are applicable in the entire universe. By virtue of being universal, it is highly important to note that the history of human rights stemmed from a tough core in the universe. Amidst war zones, unpleasant treatment among humans, lack of empathy, there was the battle of the wits.

Organizations as well as governments merged to form strong platforms that fought for human rights.

Regarded as empathetic platforms that fight for the rights of humanity in different channels, these organizations have since co-existed to create a comfortable living environment for humans. One such organization is the Open Society Foundations.

Open Society Foundations

Open Society Foundations was established by billionaire George Soros. After experiencing unpleasant childhood coupled with the Nazi regime and killings, Soros learned how to survive in harsh living conditions. Read more: Michael Larcey | Twitter and Jim Larkin |LinkedIn

A young boy then, Soros flee to London in pursuit of education. He was inclined on succeeding despite his past. While at the London School of Economics, he was passionate about economics and how its measures control the money value across the world.

Inspiration

Impressed by the works of Karl Popper, Soros established an organization that presently fights for human rights by fostering acceptance, peace and unity across the world. The Open Society Foundations was founded with the common citizen on mind. The primary aim of this organization is to merge philanthropic organizations that have the same vision.

Through the guidance of George Soros, the Open Society Foundations has extensively expanded to work on enhancing cultural acceptance.

Soros philanthropy dates to 1979 when he started dishing out scholarship to South Africans. It is projected that he was helpful in the facilitation of exchanging ideas to communists through the provision of printers.

Lacey and Larking

The founders of New Times Michael Lacey joined by Jim Larkin the chief executive officer were arrested over allegations that they had revealed grand jury information concerning a high ranking case in their story dubbed Grand Jury Targets. They were put in custody and bailed out after a court hearing that proved their innocence.

Following the case, there was a settlement of $3.79 million. The duo channeled the entire amount to charity works stating that human and civil rights foundations needed the funds.

This is because the people of Arizona can do with the support. Under the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund, the amount was channeled to different helpful organizations for immigrants, human and civil rights foundations.
