A professor of plastic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, he volunteers his time and extensive knowledge for various causes. Annually, he supports a medical student from his home state of North Dakota who plans on entering a primary care practice upon graduation. He has aided impoverished children by helping to provide immunizations through the East Dallas Mobile Health Unit and by traveling to third world countries to provide plastic surgery to children with congenital deformities and severe burns; he also teaches his techniques to doctors in the areas he volunteers at. Dr. Rod Rohrich helped co-found an organization in 2012 that provides breast cancer survivors with reconstructive surgery after mastectomies who could not afford to do so otherwise: the Alliance in Reconstructive Surgery or AIRS.
Rohrich is a high honors graduate of the Baylor College of Medicine where he was invited to the Alpha Omega Alpha society and he completed his residency through the University of Michigan in general medicine and plastic surgery.
